June 14, 2010 (MMD Newswire) -- PAINTER'S SHOWCASE founder, Victoria Kloch got used to her Boston Terrier puppy Lucy Bean opening her paint tubes early. "I didn't mind so much, as I was worried for her safety. But when she chewed the handles of favorite brushes, it got personal." Turns out, Kloch is extending the long history of atelier pooches, who have long provided the perfect companions and critiques for artists, not to mention art subjects, for centuries.
Of course, one of immediate bennies to working in the studio is having your dog around while you create.... something many companies now also allow; Google, Amazon, AutoDesk, Ben & Jerry's are a few. June 25, 2010 may be the rare opportunity for each of us to let our dogs shine at the workplace. Take Your Dog To Work Day was created in 1999 to celebrate the great companions dogs make and to encourage their adoption from humane societies, animal shelters and breed rescue clubs. This annual event celebrates the humane-canine bond and promotes pet adoption by encouraging their employers to support TYDTWDay by opening their workplace to employees' four-legged friends on this one annual day. Kloch is part of several trends at once: working online versus a geographical location, establishing her own business and enjoying the company of a most-excellent four-pawed companion. Lucy has grown up quite a bit and now is willing to limit her chewing to her toy basket. Learn more about Painter's Showcase (where everyday is TYDTWDay at www.PaintersShowcase.com.
